What are the benefits of Invisible braces?

Invisible braces are far more comfortable than traditional braces. Traditional braces may feel clunky in the mouth and can cause discomfort when they are tightened. Also, food frequently gets caught in between metal braces. Luckily, invisible braces can be removed when you need to eat, brush or floss your teeth.

It can take many years for traditional braces to straighten teeth, whereas invisible braces can do the same job in half the time.

Safer to wear
Metal braces have been known to cause damage to teeth. Often, traditional braces cause white spots in the area where the braces are placed. Metal in the mouth can also cause scratches and/or punctures in the mouth, gums and lips. With invisible braces, there are no safety concerns: no cuts, cavities, or disease.

How do invisible braces work?

Dr Engelbrecht begins the process by taking impressions of your teeth so she can assess whether invisible braces are the best option for you.

Next, she will develop a detailed treatment plan, which shows the projection of movement expected during the process. This will give you a good idea of what the final result will be.

Once you’re with the treatment plan and projections, we begin designing your aligners. Each set of aligners are worn for two weeks. With each set, your teeth will start to move closer to their final position.

Dr Engelbrecht will closely monitor your progress and ensure you are comfortable during the course of your treatment. The length of treatment may vary, depending on the complexity of the case, but we’ll keep you up to date with your progress.

Will invisible braces work for me?

Invisible braces treat a wide range of straightening issues, from minor movement issues affecting only one or two teeth to more complex issues. Due to the way the aligners are designed, the aligners are best for adults or teens. They are not suitable for young children because their teeth are still developing. Invisible braces are also not suitable for severe cases of misalignment or malocclusion. These cases are best treated with traditional braces.
